Trader Joe’s Macadamias mix Gingerly with Cranberries & Almonds

Trader Joe's Macadamia Mix Gingerly with Cranberries & Almonds

Now, I know that this name is a bit strange. I actually did not notice how weird it was until I stopped to type it down for this post. You know how much we LOVE to eat trail mix and all kinds of nuts, right? Well I  guess I was only seeing the great ingredients when I picked up this package.

I mean, any nut lover would grab fast for a mixture that had macadamias, cranberries and almonds, right? But Trader Joe’s always goes the extra mile, and well, they added chunks of ginger to this mix!

Yes, you read that right! I think this is the first time I have purchased a Trail Mix/ Trek Mix that had chunks of spicy-sweet candied ginger in the package. YUMMZ!

As you can see from the photos (I am so amazed that we remembered to even take photos of this wonderful stuff 🙂 Trader Joe’s did not skimp on the ginger- there are tons of real large chunks of ginger in this mix. (the ginger was about the same size as the macadamia nuts- eeks!)

So anyway we wanted to alert you all to a wonderful nibble that is available right now at your local Trader Joe’s store. This will be one of our favorite snacks to enjoy over the summer and we hope that you all get a chance to enjoy it as well.

Don’t forget: This snack is Wheat Free too!

Let us know what you thought of this mixture. Please leave a comment in the space below.

Well, I went to my local Trader Joe’s in Cerritos, CA. They pulled this product from the shelf. I asked why? They gave me some lame answer. “Labelling?” What does that mean? I love this trail mix. It’s great to take on a bike ride. Anybody have any ideas???

I hate that- when I fall in love with a great product, and then poof- they don’t carry it anymore! My suggestion? Make your own trail mix with your favorite ingredients- ginger/ cranberries / nuts- you may find you like it 🙂 Cheers! Kristin

Today I asked about it and was told it was discontinued. Sad, I hope this is just a switch in producers and they bring it back. If anyone know why not only was it discontinued, but also why it was pulled let us know.

Well guys, Thanks for responding to my post. But…Sadly, I’m done with Trader Joes. They don’t listen to their customers! This is not the only product that was pulled that I enjoyed. The other was Pasta Primavera. It was a great meal. They pulled that also. So, I am done shopping at Trader Joes

I was told it has to do with a law in California, Prop 65, that has something to do with water supplies. Whether it was related to growing ginger there or macadamia nuts, it cannot be sold in California at least for now. I’m not in california, however, so I hope they can adjust their distribution networks to get this back on the shelf in New Mexico.

This was one of my favorites, too. Hope they bring it back. What’s strange is that See’s Candies used to make a chocolate covered ginger, and that has been discontinued as well. Wonder what’s happening with the ginger production? Anyone know?

I wonder if it is a popularity thing? Here’s to hoping ginger will be “cool” again soon!

The last two bags of this mix I purchased at Trader Joe’s in Knoxville, TN, contained rancid nuts. The sell by dates for both bags were 2016. When I encountered rancid nuts in the first bag, I shrugged it off as a fluke. When I purchased a bag several months later and found rancid nuts in that bag , I realized it wasn’t a fluke. Unfortunately, I always transfer trail mix to a storage container and throw the bag away. So, I don’t have information identifying the batch. I hope Trader Joe’s monitors these messages and investigates how this otherwise fantastic mix came to contain rancid nuts.
